The History of the Tiffin Box

The word Tiffin was developed in India by the British, a term used for a food container on the go, but the concept of a tiffin box delivery was originally developed in India, where an intricate network of ‘Dabbawallas’ has for over a century, delivered a home cooked lunch from the kitchens of wives and mothers direct to the city workers. Deliveries are made and the empty containers collected later, to be used again the next day.

The Tiffin is a stainless steel layered box containing individual portions of meat or vegetarian curry dishes. In your Tiffin you might find a dish such as daal, butter chicken, lamb curry as a few examples.

Artisan by Aman’s commitment to the concept and culture of the Tiffin Tin Thursday idea is to always provide home-cooked, 100% authentic Indian food.

How it Works

Two menu options are sent out on a Sunday and orders should be placed by Tuesday, by direct message. The Tiffins are ready for collection on Thursday by 12pm. The empty and washed Tiffin Tins can be returned by Tuesday the following week, to be ready for your next order!
